 About Us

The 1894 Kingsbury House is conveniently located between Saratoga Springs and Cooperstown in a quiet village 10 miles from the NYS Thruway. Enjoy the warm fireplace, rocking chairs on the porch, a nap in the garden and a homemade gourmet breakfast.
In our 28 years of stewardship we have restored many features and fixtures original to the building (we are only the fourth family to live here). William Morris wallpaper in the living room, Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper in the dining room, several lighting fixtures original to the construction of the house and original White Oak and Chestnut woodwork give the rooms a comfortable "lived in" feel.
We are certified Bike Friendly by Parks & Trails New York and the New York State Canal Corporation and are located just minutes across the river from the Bridge Street intersection on the Erie Canalway Trail.  We are also paddler-friendly for those putting in at the St. Johnsville Marina and we offer canoe and kayak transport and storage for guests.
We offer lodging for single parties of one to four persons.  In addition to a private room and bath, guests are encouraged to use the living room and dining room.  The front porch and large garden behind the residence offer locations for relaxing, reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine.  During inclement weather, the ballroom, located on the second floor of the carriage house, offers a unique retreat.

An American Elm tree shades our Stick-style Victorian.

A typical breakfast: Quiche, scones, fruit, coffee/tea and the New York Times.

Guests may relax in a lovely, quiet garden with dappled afternoon shade and a view of the carriage house.

Apple trees shade a bistro table for two in the garden.

The living room is a quiet place to relax, read a book or, sit by the fire.

High-backed rocking chairs on the front porch are just the thing for watching the world go by slowly.
